A note from our astronomer: ” Meteor Shower Event Final Call- Unfortunately the weather forecasts are all converging to the same idea. Very cloudy with the chance of thunderstorms. Due to the inclement weather we are forced to cancel the meteor shower viewing event for this weekend. We regret having to make this hard decision but no need to worry! There will be lots of astronomy events coming up in the near future so make sure to keep an eye out for them. If you happen to catch a glimpse of partly cloudy skies this weekend make sure to go outside and try to view a few meteors in between the clouds. Scheduling these events is tough because of weather but when we do get those crystal clear skies it’s all worth it. Astronomy is worth taking that risk to educate kids about our universe. Those kids are our next generation of scientist’s and astronauts! To be able to inspire them to enter the S.T.E.M field is worth everything. -Chris”

The back fields at Beach Plum Farm present an ideal location to take in one of the most breathtaking celestial events of the summer- the Perseid Meteor Shower. Please join us for a meteor shower viewing party at BPF on Saturday, August 11th. The viewing will begin around 8:30 pm and run until 11pm.

Space enthusiast and photographer, Chris Bakley will be bringing lots of equipment to give everyone a deeper look into the universe. Anyone who wants to participate in that is welcome, and if not they are all more than welcome to just sit back, relax and enjoy the night sky. Chris will also be going around and answering any questions people have. He’ll bring a legal laser to direct our viewing and will point out major astronomical objects. The event is complimentary and don’t forget to bring your chairs, blankets, and headlamps!
